I have participated in several different sports throughout my life including baseball, football, swiming and, martial arts. However the areas that I ended up improving in and enjoying the most were cross country and track and field as a distance runner. I ran at the varsity level in both sports in both high school and college. It was during this time that I developed my interest in exercise and how it affected the body, and what it took to train to become better. In 2005 I graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Northridge, one of the most recognized exercise science programs in the country. My emhesis was in teaching and coaching. In my time at CSUN I took courses in exercise physiology, exercise psychology, biomechanics, motor learning and development, and teaching/ coaching development and philosophy.
In 2003 I took a job at Westlake High school as the assistant boys varsity coach. In my time at Westlake myself and our coaching staff have developed a distance program that has become one of the most recognized teams in the state of California. I have been part of and attended many coaching and developmental fitness clinics put on by the ACSM the (American College of Sports Medicine), USATF and other organizations. In 2009 I created my own fitness busniess, with the goal of helping people reach their fitness and wellness goals, through sound, systematic training.
Areas of Specality: Exercise Physiology and, Psychology - Periodized training with an emphsis in cardiovascular and muscular endurance.
I believe in all the components of fitness including cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance and strength, flexability, and body composition, which all part of a well rounded fitness routine.
Jorge Humberto Hernandez-Ramirez
I'm certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I've been a trainer for about two years; I was an uncertified trainer for a year and half but I decided it would be best to get certified which I did December 09. I've been around the sport of body building most of my life and I learned most of what I know in regards to fitness from body builders. I was taught how to be a trainer by a former world champion body builder who now specializes in training pro athletes. Through my certification from NASM, I learned how to take what I know in regards to training athletes and aspiring body builders and how to cross it over to training the general population; that is people who want to be fit but are not interested in being an elite athlete. My philosophy to training is the same philosophy that I apply to life and it's simple, get your mind right. It's amazing what and how much you can accomplish when your mind is right.
